Ariana Grande ends ‘Eternal Sunshine Tour’ with tearful London goodbye

Ariana Grande ended her 41-show Eternal Sunshine Tour in London on Tuesday, Sept. 1, leaving fans emotional and buzzing as the Grammy winner fought back tears while saying goodbye before stepping away from the public spotlight.

The singer became visibly emotional during the final show, especially while performing “One Last Time,” a song that has a deep connection with survivors of the 2017 Manchester terror attack.

“London, I’m going to need you to help me on this one,” Grande told the crowd as she knelt near the audience during the performance. Grande later struggled to hold back tears while reflecting on the tour.

“This has been one of the most beautiful, extraordinary experiences of my life and I just wanted to express my gratitude without sobbing completely,” she said. She added that she would always treasure the experience and praised her fans for their constant support.

“I have the best fans in the entire world, and I always have,” Grande said. “I have loved every minute of this with you all.”

The emotional farewell comes as Grande prepares to take a break from public-facing work. Her representative previously said the singer plans to take a “much-deserved break” after months of intense public attention.

Grande also withdrew from a planned production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Sunday in the Park with George” at London’s Barbican next summer. She was expected to star alongside her “Wicked” co-star Jonathan Bailey, who also left the production Tuesday.

Despite the emotional moments, Grande delivered a powerful final performance. A foot injury forced her to replace her trademark stilettos with knee-high platform boots, but she continued dancing, moving across the stage and performing major hits including “Dangerous Woman” and “Break Free.”

The London residency drew about 200,000 people across 10 shows, with fans traveling from countries including China, Australia and cities across Europe. Many arrived wearing Grande’s signature bunny-ear look, adding to the excitement surrounding her final concert.

The tour marked Grande’s return to the stage after a seven-year absence. She had previously described the run as “one last hurrah” while expressing interest in taking on more acting roles following her Oscar-nominated performance in “Wicked.”
