KARACHI: Karachi traffic police have announced a comprehensive traffic management plan for processions marking Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) on Wednesday, August 26, with several road diversions and restrictions planned across the city.

According to a traffic police spokesperson, three major processions will depart from Memon Masjid after 2 p.m. Senior traffic police officers have been directed to personally supervise the processions in their respective districts.

The traffic police have designated alternative routes in the Central, East and South districts to keep traffic moving during the religious processions.

In District Central, motorists traveling from Nazimabad can use Lasbela Chowk, Nishter Road and Garden. Traffic from Liaquatabad can turn left at Teen Hatti toward Sandal Jail via Martin Road.

Motorists traveling from Hasan Square toward Paposh Nagar can use Kashmir Road, Society Light Signal, Shahrah-e-Quaidin and Jail Flyover before proceeding toward Teen Hatti and Nishter Road.

In District East, motorists traveling from Shahrah-e-Faisal toward Numaish via Shahrah-e-Quaidin can turn right at Society Light Signal toward Kashmir Road.

Traffic from the Central Jail gate on Jamshed Road toward Guru Mandir and M.A. Jinnah Road can use Bahadur Yar Jung Road and Soldier Bazaar.

In District South, traffic traveling from Garden Zoo toward M.A. Jinnah Road will be diverted through the Anarkali area toward Gul Plaza and Coast Guard Road.

Vehicles traveling from Kemari toward M.A. Jinnah Road via Empress Market will be diverted from Saddar Dawakhana toward People’s Chowrangi.

Traffic heading toward Prince Road will be diverted via Abdullah Haroon Road toward M.R. Kayani Chowk. Traffic from M.R. Kayani Chowk toward Court Road and Kabutar Chowrangi will not be allowed and will instead be diverted from Arts Council toward Pakistan Chowk.

Traffic traveling from Shahrah-e-Liaquat toward Burns Road will be diverted at Aram Bagh Light Signal toward Pakistan Chowk.

The traffic police also announced a ban on the movement of heavy commercial vehicles across Karachi on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal.

Authorities urged motorists to follow the designated diversions and cooperate with traffic personnel. The spokesperson said parking along the procession routes would not be allowed.
