Demi Lovato celebrated her birthday with a little help from her former BFF Selena Gomez.
The Camp Rock star celebrated her 34th birthday on August 20, and she kept the celebrations going throughout the weekend. On Monday, August 24, Lovato took to her public Instagram spam account — which she launched earlier this month — to share a picture of herself on a beach house holding a pink balloon.
The post was set to Gomez’s song, Birthday, which she released on her 21st birthday on July 22, 2013.
Fans were delighted at the song choice, with one writing, “using birthday by selena this is everything!!!!!”
Another wrote, “YESSS MY CHILDHOOD DUO,” while a third shared a GIF from Gomez and Lovato’s old YouTube channel.
The shout-out comes four months after Gomez attended Lovato’s It’s Not That Deep Tour in Orlando, sending fans into a frenzy as they posed together backstage.
“I am in tears,” Gomez, 33, wrote as she shared the photo on her Instagram Stories, adding that the concert was “hands down one of the best shows” she’d seen.
At the time, Lovato shared the post to her own Stories, writing, “Thank you so much for coming!!! Loved seeing you.”
The surprise reunion reportedly marked their first public appearance together since a 2017 InStyle event.
Gomez and Lovato first met while filming Barney & Friends before rising to stardom on Disney’s Wizards of Waverly Place and Camp Rock, respectively.
Though they drifted apart over the years, the pair have spoken highly of each other in recent years, with Lovato saying on the Baby, This is Keke Palmer Podcast earlier this year that she “will always be grateful for the friendship” she has with Gomez.
