Illegal lease canceled after NAB probe into land valued at Rs2.61 billion.

KARACHI: A major land recovery has been made in Sindh, with the National Accountability Bureau’s Karachi office reclaiming 435 acres of government land in Dhabiji and Thatta after an investigation into an allegedly illegal lease extension.

The land, valued at 2.61 billion Pakistani rupees, was recovered after NAB Karachi’s intervention led Sindh’s Land Utilization Department to cancel the lease on Aug. 20, according to the bureau.

The investigation involves Sajid Haroon and Fawad Anwar, owners of Dhabiji Salt Works (Private) Limited and Aqua Food (Private) Limited in Dhabiji, Thatta district, along with others.

NAB said the inquiry concerns the alleged illegal extension of the 435-acre lease based on fraudulent documents.

Following correspondence between NAB Karachi and provincial revenue officials, the secretary of Sindh’s Land Utilization Department issued an order canceling the lease for the 435-acre property.

The land has since been returned to the Sindh government and is now free of encumbrances and other legal restrictions, NAB said.

The bureau said the recovery reflects its commitment to protecting public assets and enforcing accountability under the law.
