LONDON: Prince Harry is planning to return to Britain with his family after spending six years living in the United States, according to media reports.
The 41-year-old Duke of Sussex reportedly informed his father, King Charles III, on Sunday about his plans to return to the UK later this month.
The move is not expected to change Harry and his wife Meghan Markle’s status within the royal family. Under arrangements agreed several years ago, the couple will remain non-working members of the royal family and will not undertake official royal duties.
The couple’s children, 7-year-old Prince Archie and 5-year-old Princess Lilibet, have reportedly been enrolled in schools in Britain, where they are expected to continue their education.
It remains unclear where Harry and his family will live after returning to the UK.
Harry and Meghan moved from Britain to the United States six years ago following a highly publicized rift with the royal family. The couple settled in California and subsequently stepped back from royal duties.
Before leaving Britain, Harry reportedly did not inform his father, then-Prince Charles, his stepmother Queen Camilla or his brother, Prince William, about his plans.
After moving to the U.S., Harry discussed his relationship with the royal family in interviews, a memoir and television projects, prompting further public attention to tensions within the monarchy.
The late Queen Elizabeth II previously made clear that Harry and Meghan could not combine private life in the United States with official royal duties in Britain. Harry was also stripped of his honorary military titles as part of the changes to the couple’s royal status.

Harry currently lives in California with Meghan and their children. Reports have offered various explanations for the planned return, but it remains unclear what prompted the decision or who may have played a role in it.
