ISLAMABAD: Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani arrived in Islamabad late Wednesday on an official visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Office said in a statement.
The Syrian FM, accompanied by a high-level official delegation, was received upon arrival by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ additional secretary (Middle East) at the airport.
Al-Shaibani is visiting Pakistan from August 19 to 20.
During the visit, the two sides will hold in-depth discussions covering the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, review avenues for further enhancing cooperation, and exchange views on regional and international developments, the FO added.
The FO said the visit marks an important step towards further enhancing Pakistan-Syria relations and advancing cooperation between the two countries.
He is expected to hold meetings with Pakistani leadership during his stay in Islamabad.
