Google’s ecosystem supported more than 960,000 jobs across the country.

Google has announced a major initiative for students in Pakistan as the company prepares to open its first local office in the country.

Speaking at an event, Google Vice President Wilson White said the company would offer all Pakistani students a free one-year subscription to Google Gemini. An official announcement about the initiative is expected later this week.

White said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of making Pakistan a hub for $30 billion in IT exports aligns with Google’s goals.

He said Google has contributed more than 3.9 trillion Pakistani rupees to economic activity for businesses and households in Pakistan over the past decade.

White added that Google’s ecosystem has supported more than 960,000 jobs across the country.

Speaking about Google’s future plans in Pakistan, White said the opening of the local office was “just the beginning.”

After the event, Federal Minister for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja welcomed Google to Pakistan in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
