Sebastian Stan opened up about how Marvel kept Avengers: Doomsday tightly under wraps.
The actor, who plays James “Bucky” Barnes (also known as the Winter Soldier) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealed that even he was kept largely in the dark while filming the highly anticipated crossover.
In an interview Stan recalled he and his co-stars did not have access to a full script.
Instead, they shot “scattered scenes” to avoid spoilers, a common Marvel tactic.
“We didn’t have a [full] script. We were just shooting scattered scenes. It’s a different way of working — continuous, constantly evolving,” he explained.
Offering a rare glimpse into the highly secretive production, he emphasised that this approach prevents plot leaks and helps actors avoid revealing key storyline elements during media interviews.
“The producers didn’t want us to read it in its entirety to avoid journalists asking us questions,” he added. “I’ve been following this rule for 15 years, so I’m used to it.”
Stan also has a role in The Batman: Part II as Harvey Dent but remained tight-lipped about that project as well.
Avengers: Doomsday, out December 18, will feature returning stars Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Tom Hiddleston, Paul Rudd, and several X-Men alumni, promising a massive crossover event directed by the Russo Brothers.
