    Zardari honors humanitarian workers

President Zardari praised humanitarian workers and organizations for providing timely assistance to people affected by natural disasters, emergencies and other crises.

He also recognized the contributions of social workers, medical professionals, child protection workers and human rights activists, saying helping people in distress was a collective responsibility.

Zardari said humanitarian workers played a vital role in helping communities respond to emergencies and recover from their effects. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to compassion, respect for human dignity and the protection of fundamental rights.

The president also reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to work with the international community to advance humanitarian principles and protect fundamental rights under the Constitution and international human rights agreements.

    Shehbaz highlights Pakistan’s humanitarian role

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif renewed Pakistan’s commitment to humanitarianism, solidarity and the spirit of service, while paying tribute to individuals, organizations and institutions working to improve the lives of people in need.

He noted that World Humanitarian Day is observed in memory of 22 humanitarian workers killed in the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad. The annual observance recognizes those who continue providing assistance in conflict and disaster-hit areas despite the risks involved.

Shehbaz highlighted Pakistan’s long-standing humanitarian tradition, including its contributions to U.N. peacekeeping missions and assistance during regional and global crises. He also cited the country’s decades-long hosting of millions of Afghan refugees as an example of compassion and international solidarity.

The prime minister said the government was working to protect the rights and dignity of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups while promoting a more inclusive and equal society.

He said the Ministry of Human Rights had taken practical measures through welfare centers, training institutions and protection facilities. Efforts were also underway to improve access to essential civic services for people with disabilities and increase women’s participation in social and economic activities.

Shehbaz stressed that protecting vulnerable groups, promoting gender equality, safeguarding children and empowering young people were essential to advancing human rights, social justice and public welfare.

He said Pakistan would continue to stand with vulnerable communities in both peace and crisis and work to ensure they receive protection, assistance and opportunities to live with dignity.
