Caramel syrup beauty trend takes social media by storm

Beauty fans are swapping cool pink blush for warmer, sun kissed shades this year, because Singer Dayoung has helped fuel the trend on social media and red carpets, inspiring makeup artists to embrace a look known as “caramel syrup” tones.

The style replaces soft strawberry and pink hues with rich caramel brown shades, creating a warm, glossy and naturally radiant finish. Strawberry and pink makeup have ruled beauty trends for the past few years, giving cheeks and lips a soft, cool flush.

Caramel syrup tones take that same idea and turn up the heat. Instead of pink undertones, the look leans on warm browns that resemble melted caramel. The result feels rich rather than soft and cool, and it works well for people who want a glow that looks natural, not powdery.

Beauty writers say Korean makeup trends often move in cycles between cool and warm tones, because they still keep the dewy, glass skin finish K-beauty is known for, just with a warmer color base. Fans say the look feels fresh without straying too far from what already works.

Getting the caramel syrup look starts with a warm toned bronzer or cream blush swept across the cheeks. Makeup artists suggest blending it well into the skin so there are no harsh lines.

A caramel brown lip tint or gloss finishes the mouth, while a warm, glowy highlighter adds shine to the cheekbones, nose and brow bone. The finish should look hot and dewy, almost like the skin has a light glaze, rather than matte or powdery.

Industry watchers expect caramel syrup tones to grow through the rest of the year as more idols, influencers and beauty brands adopt the warm palette.
