RAWALPINDI: At least two terrorists were killed, and three others injured during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Killi Zaik area, security sources said on Monday.

The operation was carried out between Killi Zaik and Kaghli, around 12 kilometres north of the Baseema camp, after security forces received information about the presence of terrorists, said security sources.

Security forces also recovered ammunition, hand grenades, magazines and material used to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the terrorists, the sources said.

The intelligence-based operations were carried out as part of the ongoing  Operation Rad-ul-Fitna-3, which the military’s media wing described as a counterterrorism effort targeting Indian proxies.

The IBO comes just a day after security forces killed seven India-backed terrorists in an intelligence-based operation in Kharan district of Balochistan.

The operation was conducted in the Lajay area after information was received about the presence of militants in the area, according to security sources.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terror activities, particularly in its KP and Balochistan provinces, since 2021, when the Afghan Taliban came into power.

According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), the two provinces remained the country’s main hotspots for violence during the second quarter of 2026, with KP emerging as the worst-affected region.

The report stated that KP and Balochistan together accounted for nearly 96% of all violence-related fatalities recorded during the quarter. Of the total deaths, more than 61% (475) were reported in KP, while Balochistan accounted for 34% (265).

KP also recorded the highest number of violent incidents, with 151 cases, representing 57% of the nationwide total. Balochistan followed with 94 incidents, or 35%, underscoring the concentration of militant activity in the two provinces.
