It’s official — Sid Wilson has parted ways with Slipknot after nearly three decades.

On Friday, August 14, the heavy metal group announced that Wilson — who served as their DJ and keyboardist for 28 years — will “no longer be associated” with Slipknot, confirming reports of his departure that surfaced last month.

“Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson,” read a statement shared by the band’s Knotfest account. “We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

The announcement comes just over two weeks after TMZ first reported on July 31 that Wilson had been permanently removed from the group. The outlet initially said the reason for his exit was unclear, before later reporting that the band had grown frustrated with his behaviour, particularly how he treated his bandmates.

Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998, shortly before the release of the group’s self-titled debut album. He remained part of the lineup for 28 years and performed at the band’s most recent live show at Ohio’s Inkcarceration festival in July 2025.

Slipknot’s current members, including Corey Taylor, Shawn “Clown” Crahan, Mick Thomson and Jim Root, have yet to publicly address Wilson’s departure.
