Anne Hathaway opened up about something that many movie fans clearly feel very strongly about, seeing a dog die on screen.
The actress recently said films with dog deaths should automatically get an R rating.
While talking to Complex Pop, Hathaway shared that swearing and violence are not as upsetting to her as seeing a dog get killed.
“I feel like movies that kill dogs should automatically be rated R,” she said.
The Verity star brought up John Wick, which starts with the death of John’s puppy, Daisy. She said the movie may have made people even more nervous about watching films with dogs.
“I think everybody’s so traumatized by John Wick,” she said, explaining that people now seem to worry whenever dog appears in a movie.
The Interstellar actress, however, also goy dogs of her own, including Esmeralda and Kenobi.
She, moreover, is currently promoting The End of Oak Street, which also features a family dog named Starbuck.
Hathaway got massive praise for the animal, calling Starbuck “the undisputed star of the film” and saying viewers quickly fall in love with him.
Her comments have also received support from movie fans as some of them said that they now check websites before watching a film to find out if a dog gets hurt or dies.
