Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker are opening up with new detail about the frightening emergency fetal surgery their son Rocky underwent before he was born, sharing the story in Barker’s new Hulu documentary, Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear.
The scare came when Kardashian was seven months pregnant and doctors discovered fluid building up in Rocky’s lungs.
Barker, who was on tour in Europe at the time, recalled getting the call that changed his plans.
“I was touring, I was actually in Europe. She says, ‘Trav, I went to my doctor and the baby’s lungs are filling with fluid.'”
He immediately canceled four tour shows to be by her side. Doctors treated the condition by draining the fluid using a needle inserted through Kardashian’s stomach.
“It was terrifying going in for the surgery,” she said. “He canceled four shows, and he just came and laid with me in the hospital and made sure that everything was OK.”
