RAWALPINDI: Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide called on Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, with the two sides discussing regional security, bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a high-level delegation from Norway, led by Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, met with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
The meeting covered matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral relations between Pakistan and Norway.
Field Marshal Munir shared Pakistan’s perspective on global peace and regional stability and stressed the importance of cooperation and joint efforts to address common security challenges.
The Norwegian foreign minister appreciated the professional role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in promoting regional peace and stability.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in the fields of defence and security.

Earlier, Pakistan and Norway have agreed to resolve disputes peacefully in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Charter, with the two sides also pledging to strengthen cooperation in defence, trade, climate change and other areas.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, during which the two sides agreed to finalize several agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries at the earliest.
Dar briefed his Norwegian counterpart on Pakistan’s concerns over India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the Kashmir dispute and what Islamabad described as violations of United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Speaking at a joint news conference with Eide, Dar said India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty had created a new dimension in an already tense situation.
“India must stop weaponizing water and fulfill its obligations under the Indus Waters Treaty,” Dar said.
He said Pakistan and Norway had agreed to expand cooperation in defence, trade, climate change and other fields.
Eide, meanwhile, praised the constructive role played by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Pakistan in efforts to address the Iran-U.S. conflict.
