Kellan Lutz says the fame that came with Twilight briefly made him lose sight of who he was.
The actor, who played Emmett Cullen in the blockbuster vampire saga, opened up about the pressure he felt after the franchise’s success during an appearance on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast on Tuesday, August 11.
While Lutz remains grateful for the experience, he admitted the pursuit of another major role left him feeling “stressed and desperate.”
“I’m so grateful that I got a taste of the dragon,” Lutz told Rosenbaum. “A lot of actors are like, ‘Oh, I want to win an Oscar. I want to win an Emmy.’ I don’t care about awards. I like what I get to do. I like playing characters. It’s adult make-believe and I really do love it.”
However, the actor said he didn’t fully understand what Twilight would bring when he joined the franchise.
“As far as the fame, I didn’t realise what Twilight would be,” he shared.
