PARIS: Pakistan’s Khawaja Muhammad Zubair delivered a remarkable performance at the Esports World Cup 2026 on Saturday, defeating South Korea’s LowHigh 5-0 in the Tekken 8 grand final to win the championship title at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles in France.
Zubair’s victory marked one of the biggest achievements of his esports career as he dominated the final match without losing a single game. His impressive performance secured him the Tekken 8 championship trophy, $300,000 in prize money and 1,000 Club Championship points.
The Tekken 8 tournament took place from Aug. 5-8, featuring 32 top players from around the world competing for the title and a share of the prize pool.
Zubair faced LowHigh, one of the most experienced and respected players in the international Tekken community, in the final. The Pakistani competitor controlled the match from the beginning and completed a convincing 5-0 win to claim the biggest title of his career.
The achievement was even more impressive because Zubair had limited experience competing on the global esports stage. According to the Esports World Cup, he made his international debut only two months before the tournament, where he was eliminated during the group stage.
Instead of giving up, Zubair returned to Paris through the last chance qualifier and fought his way back into the competition. He then continued his strong run through the qualification process before defeating several top ranked players on his way to the championship.
During his title winning journey, Zubair secured an important victory over fellow Pakistani Tekken star Arslan Ash. Australia’s Yagami finished third, while Arslan Ash secured fourth place in the tournament standings. LowHigh earned $130,000 for finishing second, while Yagami received $70,000 and Arslan Ash took home $50,000.
Zubair’s success adds another major achievement to Pakistan’s growing reputation in competitive Tekken. Pakistani players, including Arslan Ash and Atif Butt, have already earned international recognition and helped establish the country as a strong force in fighting game esports.
The victory highlights Zubair’s determination and rapid rise in the competitive scene, after earning his place through the qualification route, he defeated experienced international opponents before producing a dominant performance in the final.
The official Tekken esports records list the champion as Khawaja Muhammad Zubair, who competes under the name AG M. Zubair. His 2026 season also includes participation in the Tekken World Tour, further building his reputation among the world’s top players.
