ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has described the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement as a significant milestone in the country’s history.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Bilawal Bhutto said the agreement was a historic development that would further strengthen the defence capabilities of the participating countries.

He said the pact would serve as a guarantee for the secure future of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye.
Bilawal Bhutto also praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal for their role in making the defence agreement possible, saying the pact was a historic document for regional and global peace.

Earlier, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye on Friday signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, pledging to treat an armed attack on any one of the three countries as an attack on them all, in a move aimed at strengthening regional security cooperation.
The agreement was signed during the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Summit for Joint Defence, attended by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement.
According to the Foreign Office, the pact reflects the three countries’ shared commitment to strengthening collective security and promoting peace, stability and deterrence in the region.
