Megan Moroney has spoken out after cutting her Denver concert short due to an unspecified illness.
In an emotional Instagram message shared hours after leaving the stage in tears, the country star said canceling the show was “the hardest decision” she has ever had to make.
“That was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make & I’m so sorry to cancel the show tonight,” she wrote on Tuesday, July 28. “I never ever will give you guys a show that is not 100% and by song 3 I knew that I was not capable of giving that to you tonight.”
Moroney added, “I’m typing this as I’m quite literally bawling my eyes out in my dressing room & it hurts me so much to disappoint you all.”
Earlier that evening, the singer took the stage at Ball Arena for her ongoing Cloud 9 tour but managed only three songs before stopping the performance. Fighting back tears, she addressed the audience and explained that despite doing everything she could to recover before the show, she was simply too sick to continue.
“I am obviously extremely sick, and I thought I did everything to make myself better, and obviously, two songs in, I just can’t play this show tonight,” she told the crowd.
Still, Moroney promised fans she would make things right.
“I want to give you guys the show you deserve. … I’m sorry,” she said.
Ball Arena later confirmed the concert had been cancelled because of the singer’s illness.
Moroney also announced that the Denver show has been rescheduled for Aug. 27, with all tickets remaining valid and refunds available for fans who cannot attend.
The Tennessee Orange hitmaker closed her message by writing, “I’ve never had to do this & I’m truly so sorry,” before adding, “i love u guys.”
