Typhoon Noul has struck southern China, killing at least 10 people and forcing more than 800,000 residents to leave their homes. The storm, the 12th and strongest typhoon to hit China so far this year, made landfall in Huizhou, Guangdong province, bringing powerful winds and heavy rain that caused widespread damage across the region.
Rescue teams have been deployed to affected areas to search for survivors, clear debris and provide assistance to residents impacted by the storm.
Authorities relocated thousands of residents across Guangdong province to safer areas before the typhoon made landfall.
The powerful storm triggered flash flooding and prompted emergency officials to carry out large-scale evacuations to protect hundreds of thousands of people.

Hong Kong and Guangdong also experienced major disruptions, with more than 410 flights and several high-speed rail services canceled.
Strong winds damaged buildings, disrupted transportation and caused flooding in vulnerable areas, prompting authorities to issue emergency warnings.
Before the typhoon made landfall, China’s National Meteorological Center issued a rare red alert. The central government also allocated 100 million yuan for emergency disaster relief and infrastructure repairs.
Typhoon Noul is the latest in a series of powerful storms to hit parts of East Asia during an active typhoon season, highlighting the continued threat of extreme weather events.
China’s Ministry of Water Resources and the China Meteorological Administration also jointly issued a red warning for flash flooding.
Flash flooding is expected from Sunday evening through Monday evening in parts of Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu and southeastern Xinjiang.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong airport authorities said flight operations would gradually resume Sunday afternoon after services had been largely suspended for more than 12 hours.
