ZURICH: FIFA has officially announced its Team of the Tournament following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with newly crowned champions Spain leading the selections with three players.
The Best XI, arranged in a 4-3-3 formation, features players from seven different nations who delivered standout performances during the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Spain’s representatives include defenders Marc Cucurella and Pedro Porro, along with midfielder Rodri, all of whom played pivotal roles in the country’s successful World Cup campaign.

Runners-up Argentina are represented by captain Lionel Messi in the forward line and defender Lisandro Martínez.
France has three players in the side Kylian Mbappé, Michael Olise, and Dayot Upamecano while England midfielder Jude Bellingham also earned a place in the midfield.
The team is completed by Erling Haaland of Norway as the central striker and Vozinha of Cape Verde, who was named goalkeeper after an impressive tournament between the posts.

Earlier, Spain’s FIFA World Cup-winning squad continues to receive tributes following its title triumph, but two midfielders have been honored with an especially unique reward from their hometown.
The town of Los Palacios y Villafranca, in Spain’s Seville province, celebrated local stars Fabián Ruiz and Gavi for their contributions to the national team’s World Cup victory by presenting each player with tomatoes equal to their body weight.
The ceremony was held at the town hall, where both players were weighed before being awarded the equivalent amount of locally grown tomatoes. Fabián Ruiz, who weighed 85 kilograms, received 85 kilograms of tomatoes, while Gavi was presented with 68.5 kilograms.
