RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Thursday reaffirmed the military’s commitment to eliminating militant groups and restoring lasting peace in Balochistan.

Addressing participants of the 20th National Workshop Balochistan at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, the army chief said the combined efforts of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and the public would help ensure long-term peace and stability in the province.

He said targeted operations against what the military refers to as Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan would continue with full resolve until terrorism and its supporters are eliminated from Pakistan. He also reiterated the country’s determination to dismantle militant infrastructure wherever it threatens national security.

Field Marshal Munir said foreign-sponsored proxy groups have repeatedly sought to fuel violence and undermine stability in Balochistan, but stressed that such efforts would be defeated through decisive action by the armed forces, backed by the resilience and unity of the Pakistani people.

Describing Balochistan as the pride of Pakistan, he said the province is rich in natural resources and home to resilient and patriotic people.

He highlighted ongoing federal and provincial development initiatives aimed at promoting inclusive socio-economic growth and improving the well-being of local communities.

The army chief also praised the role of civil society, academia, the media and young people in strengthening national integration and supporting long-term peace and prosperity.
